Jabuticaba or Brazilian grapes, is a strange and distinctive plant; its fruits grow, after blooming in white flowers, on the trunk and not as clusters dangling from the branches. Its fruits have thick black, dark red, or purple skin. The fruit pulp is white and contains from one to four seeds, resembling grapes.

الجابوتيكابا أو العنب البرازيلي نبات غريب ومميز وذلك لأن ثمارها تنبت على الجذوع وليس في شكل عناقيد تتدلى من الأغصان وذلك بعد أن تزهر بزهورها البيضاء، وتكون ثمارها سميكة القشرة ذات لون أسود أو أحمر غامق أو الأرجواني و لبها أبيض ويحوي بذرة وحتى أربعة بذور وهي تشبه حبات العنب.

It is an evergreen slow-growing tree that can reach 15 meters in height. Its leaves are salmon pink when young, and turn green when mature.

شجرتها دائمة الخضرة بطيئة النمو ويمكن أن يصل ارتفاعها إلى 15 مترًا إذا لم يتم تقليمها. أوراقها ذات لون وردي سلموني عندما تكون صغيرة، وتتحول إلى اللون الأخضر عندما تنضج.

It bears fruits 5-6 times a year in area in a tropical or semi-tropical climate.

تؤتي ثمارها 5-6 مرات في السنة في المناطق ذات الجو الاستوائي أو شبه استوائي.

The fruits are eaten raw and fresh, and are also used to make drinks, jellies, jams, wines and cosmetics. Jabuticaba fruits contain antioxidants and anti-inflammatory substances and are believed to be beneficial for cancer patients. After drying, it is used as a popular treatment for a number of diseases such as anemia, asthma, and diarrhea. It is also used as a gargling solution to treat tonsillitis.

وتؤكل ثمارها نيئة وطازجة، وكذلك تستخدم في صنع المشروبات والهلام والنبيذ وفي صناعة مواد التجميل. تحوي ثمار الجابوتيكابا على مواد مضادة للأكسدة والإلتهابات ويعتقد بفائدتها لمرضى السرطان. وهي تستخدم بعد تجفيفها كعلاج شعبي لعدد من الأمراض مثل فقر الدم والربو والإسهال، كما أنه يصنع منها محلول غرغرة لعلاج التهاب اللوزتين.
