King Saud Mosque is one of the largest mosque in the city of Jeddah – Saudi Arabia, located in Al-Sharafeyyah district on Medina road. The Mosque was finished in 1987. It is mainly build of brick and covers an area of 9700 sq m and can accommodate over 5,000 prayers. The mosque's unique design have four iwan prayer halls covering an area of 5,000 sq m and opening on a central sun shaded court. The mosque has a large dome of 20 m span and a height of 42 meters, two smaller symmetrically arranged 12 m domes, and a series of small 6 m domes covering the remaining bays of the prayer halls. The Minaret reaches a height of 60 meters. The design got Aga Khan Award in 1989.

مسجد الملك سعود هو واحد من أكبر مساجد مدينة جدة في المملكة العربية السعودية. ويقع في حي الشرفية على طريق المدينة المنورة. تم الانتهاء من بنائه في عام 1987. وهو مبني اساسا من الطوب الإسمنتي ويغطي مساحة قدرها 9700 متراً مربعاً. ويتسع لأكثر من 5000 مصلٍ. تصميم المسجد مميز إذ يتكون من أربعة أروقة للصلاة بمساحة 5000 متر مربع تطل على ساحة مركزية مغطاة بمظلات شمسية. و للمسجد قبة كبيرة قطرها 20 مترا وارتفاعها 42 مترا وقبتين صغيرتين متناظرتين قطريهما 12 متراً ومجموعة من القباب الصغيرة أقطار كل منها 6 أمتار تغطي صالات الصلاة. أما المئذنة فترتفع 60 مترا. وقد حصل التصميم على جائزة آغا خان في عام 1989.

I saw the above picture with the caption in a blog. It raised my curiosity, so I set sails to search for facts. I found, according to New York News, and others, that there is a ritual called Ma'nene, observed every three years in the Toraja district of Indonesia's South Sulawesi Province. During this ritual family members carefully dress their mummified relatives to cherish the memory of their deceased ancestors. Locals believe dead family members are still with them, even if they died hundreds of years ago.

أثارت الصورة أعلاه والتعليق المكتوب عليها في أحد المدونات فضولي فأطلقت أشرعتي أبحث عن الحقيقة. فوجدت وفقاً لصحيفة نيويورك نيوز وغيرها من الصحف أن هناك طقوساً تسمى "ماء نيني"، تحدث كل ثلاث سنوات في منطقة توراجا من مقاطعة سولاويزي الاندونيسية الجنوبية. حيث يقوم أفراد الأسرة خلال هذه الطقوس بإلباس أقاربهم المحنطين للإعتزاز بجذورهم وإحياء ذكراهم. إذ أن السكان المحليين يعتقدون أن أفراد أسرتهم الموتى لا يزالون يعيشون معهم، حتى ولو أنهم ماتوا منذ مئات السنين.

Phallus Resembling Blind Snakeثعبان أعمى يشبه العضو الذكري

A new species of 'blind snake' that resemble human phallus was discovered at the bottom of the river-bed on the on the island of Mosquiro at Madeira river in Brazil. The blind snake is about a meter long. Though the creature was discovered in November 2011, but has only been spotted sporadically since first spotted in 1968. Biologists believe that they are related to salamanders and frogs rather than snakes and they breathe through their skin, and probably feed on small fish and worms.

تم اكتشاف نوع جديد من الثعابين العمياء التي تشبه العضو الذكري للإنسان في أسفل قاع النهر عند جزيرة ماديرا في نهر موسكويرو في البرازيل. ويبلغ طول هذا الثعبان الأعمى حوالي مترا. وعلى الرغم من أن الإكتشاف قد حصل في نوفمبر (تشرين الثاني) 2011، إلا أنه رصد بشكل متباعد منذ أن شوهد لاول مرة في عام 1968. ويعتقد علماء الأحياء أنها أقرب لحيوانات السلمندر والضفادع منها إلى الثعابين، وأنها تتنفس من خلال جلدها، وربما تتغذى على الأسماك الصغيرة والديدان.

It is the paradise of Bunaken National Marine Park which was formally established in 1991 at the northern tip of the island of Sulawesi, Indonesia. The park extends over an area of 890 km², 97% of which are crystal clear (up to 35-40 m visibility), warm tropical waters. The remaining 3% consist of five islands. Water temperatures of (27-29 C) harbor high diversity of corals, fish, sponge, mollusk, reptile and marine mammal species. The park has around 8 species of giant clams, over 70 species of corals and more than 2,500 fish species, or nearly 70% of all fish species known to the Indo-western Pacific.

إنها جنة متنزه بوناكن البحري الوطني الذي تأسس رسميا في عام 1991 في الطرف الشمالي من جزيرة سولاويزي في اندونيسيا. وهو يمتد على مساحة 890 كم ²، 97٪ منها يتكون من مياه استوائية دافئة وصافية كالزجاج (تصل الرؤية فيها إلى 35-40 م). وما تبقى من 3٪ يتكون من خمس جزر. درجات حرارة المياه (27-29 مئوية) مما يجعلها موطناً لتنوع الشعب المرجانية والأسماك والإسفنج والرخويات والزواحف وأنواع كثيرة من الثدييات البحرية. ويحوي المتنزه على حوالي 8 أنواع من المحار العملاق وأكثر من 70 نوعا من الشعاب المرجانية وما يزيد عن 2500 نوعاً من أنواع الأسماك، أي ما يقرب من 70٪ من جميع أنواع الأسماك المعروفة في المحيط الهادئ في طرفه الهندي الغربي.
