هذه الزهرة الإفريقية البرية ذات لون اللحم تستخدمها بعض الحيوانات!؟

It is a parasitic flower called Jackal food or Hydnora africana. It has an unusual flesh color, and as a parasite it attacks the nearby roots of shrubby in arid deserts of South Africa. Animals using the fruit as a food source include Jackals that are attracted by the smell of rotting meat and hence its common name. Also, carrion beetles and dung beetles are attracted to the putrid-smelling blossom.

إنها زهرة طفيلية تدعى طعام ابن آوى أو هيدرونا أفريكانا. وهي غير عادية ولها لون اللحم وكطفيلية فإنها تهاجم الجذور القريبة من الشجيرات في الصحاري القاحلة في جنوب إفريقيا. تستخدم ثمارها بعض الحيوانات كمصدر للغذاء ويشمل حيوانات ابن آوى التي تنجذب إلى رائحة اللحوم المتعفنة النتنة ومن هنا جاء إسمها الشائع طعام إبن آوى. وكذلك تنجذب خنافس الجيف وخنافس الروث إلى الأزهار ذات الرائحة الكريهة.

Contrary to most plants, these parasites have no chlorophil and do not use photosynthesis. They get all their nutrients from the host plant directly by releasing an enzyme that slightly dissolves some of the host plants roots wich then allows this paraite to attach itself.

وخلافا لمعظم النباتات فإن هذه الطفيليات لا تحتوي على الكلوروفيل ولا تستخدم التمثيل الضوئي. وهي تحصل على جميع العناصر الغذائية من النبات المضيف مباشرة عن طريق إطلاق إنزيم يذوّب قليلاً بعض جذور النباتات المضيفة التي تسمح بعد ذلك لهذا الطفيلي بالالتصاق بها.

The fruit can be up to 8cm in diameter and have twenty thousand seeds. These beetles, once they push into the flower, they pick up or deposit pollen. This way, they help the plant reproduce.

يمكن أن يصل قطر الثمرة إلى 8 سم وتحتوي على عشرين ألف بذرة. وبمجرد أن تندفع الخنافس إلى الزهرة، فإنها تلتقط حبوب اللقاح أو تضعها. وبهذه الطريقة، تساعد النبات على التكاثر.

It is said that Jackal food is part of traditional Khoi tribes food, and is often thought to possess medicinal properties that help cure dysentery, kidney and bladder complaints, and acne.

ويُقال إن طعام إبن آوى هو جزء من طعام قبائل الخوي الموروث، حيثُ يعتقدون أنه يمتلك خصائص طبية تساعد في علاج مشاكل الزحار والكلى والمثانة وحب الشباب.
