The Memorial Necropole Ecumenica III, in Santos, Brazil, began to be built in 1983 and was completed and inaugurated in 1991. It is the 1st vertical cemetery in Latin America and the tallest cemetery in the world according to Guinness Book. It is built on a total area of 40,000m², 90% of which is in the native and preserved area of the Atlantic Forest. It was conceived to solve a problem that had persisted for years in the city of Santos, the frequent burials in the middle of the mud, due to the groundwater presence in the region.

32 floors, can hold about 25,000 dead bodies.

Aside from tombs, the tower also contains a chapel, spacious halls, funeral rooms, resting rooms, parking, aviary and a vehicle museum and a 24-hour restaurant on the top. The complex has a garden and a lagoon outside the buildings, the cemetery is also a popular tourist attraction in Santos.

The cemetery contains high-tech crematoriums, a spacious storeroom, and an ossuary and mausoleum.
