The carpet which is known as Baroda Pearl Carpet, has been the property of the Indian family for nearly a hundred years.

تعرف هذه السجادة بسجادة بارودا وقد ظلت قرابة مائة عام ملكا لعائلة هندية.

The story of this carpet started when the Maharaja of Baroda (present-day Vadodara, Gujarat) converted to Islam, he ordered in 1865 to weave a precious carpet to be a cover for the tomb of the Holy Prophet in Medina. However, the maharajah died in 1870 before realizing his dream and the pearl carpet remained in his family.

تبدأ قصة هذه السجادة عندما اعتنق مهراجا منطقة بارودا الهندية (في هذه الأيام تدعى فدودارا، في غوجورات) الإسلام فأمر في عام 1865 بحياكة سجادة نفيسة لكي تكون غطاءاً لقبر الرسول الكريم في المدينة المنورة. ولكن المهراجا توفي في عام 1870 قبل أن يحقق حلمه فبقيت سجادة اللآلئ مع العائلة.

More than six million skulls and bones reside under the city of light, Paris.

That is nearly three times the population of livings above them. These skeletons were exhumed from overcrowded cemeteries in the 18th and 19th centuries and literally poured into old quarry tunnels. Some of the more recent date from the French Revolution; the oldest may hail from the Merovingian era, more than 1,200 years ago. All are anonymous, dis-articulated. All individuality forgotten. Some fragments from their bones tell stories of the diseases and accidents they suffered, the wounds that healed or did not, the food they ate, their surgical practices.

وهذا تقريباً ثلاثة أضعاف الأحياء الذين يعيشون فوقهم. استخرجت هذه الهياكل العظمية من مقابر القرنين الثامن عشر و التاسع عشر المكتظة وسكبت كما هي في أنفاق المحاجر القديمة. وبعضها يعود إلى تواريح أحدث وذلك من الثورة الفرنسية وأقدمها قد يكون من عهد ميروفينغيان، أي منذ أكثر من 1,200 سنة مضت. جميع الهياكل العظمية العائدة لأناس مجهولين ومنسيين تم تفكيكها. وبعض قطع عظامهم تروي قصصا عن الأمراض والحوادث التي عانوا منها والجروح التي التأمت أو لم تلتئم وأنواع الأكل الذي كانوا يأكلونه والممارسات الجراحية في تلك الأيام.
