The world of caterpillars is really astonishing. Caterpillars are the larval form of certain insects like butterflies and moths. Many caterpillars are amazingly colored and may even have parts that mimic plant parts such as thorns. Their size varies from 1 mm to about 75 millimeters.

عالم اليسروع عالم مذهل جداً. واليسروع هو طور اليرقة لبعض الحشرات مثل الفراشات والعث. والعديد منها لها ألوان وأشكال مدهشة حتى أن بعض أجزائها قد يحاكي أجزاء النبات مثل الشوك. يتراوح طولها مابين مليمتر واحد إلى حوالي 75 ملليمترا.

Caterpillars are called "eating machines"; they eat leaves voraciously. Most species shed their skin four or five times as their bodies grow, and they eventually pupate into an adult form. They grow very quickly; for instance, a tobacco hornworm will increase its weight ten-thousand folds in less than twenty days.

وتسمى اليرقات 'الآلات الآكلة'. إذ أنها تأكل أوراق النباتا بنهم شديد. ومعظم أنواعها تغيير جلودها أربع أو خمس مرات مع نمو أجسادها، وفي نهاية المطاف تتحول إلى خادرة وهي شكل من اشكال النمو. ينمو اليسروع بسرعة كبيرة، فعلى سبيل المثال يزداد وزن دودة التبغ عشرة آلاف مرة خلال أقل من عشرين يوما.

Some caterpillar hair have venom. Approximately 12 families of moths or butterflies can inflict serious human injuries ranging from dermatitis and asthma to osteitis, coagulation, renal failure, and cerebral hemorrhage. Though there have been some fatalities, but skin rash is the most common.

شعر بعض أنواع اليسروع به سم. إذ ما يقرب من 12 عائلة من العث و الفراشات قد تؤدي إلى اصابات بالغة للإنسان تتراوح ما بين التهابات جلدية وربو حتى التهاب العظم وتجلط الدم والفشل الكلوي ونزيف المخ. ورغم أنه كانت هناك بعض حالات وفاة، ولكن الطفح الجلدي هو الأكثر شيوعا.
