About 563 km west of Beijing, amid the remote vast sea of sand dunes of Xiangshawan desert of Mongolia, an architectural lotus blossoms: The Desert Lotus Resort. The resort hosts Mongolian-themed 1001 nights performances, camel rides and sand surfing, sliding down 110-meter-high, 45-degree sand dunes. The sand dunes are known as the "Resonant Sand Gorge" as their composition make them "sing", by producing roaring or booming sounds when disturbed, a natural phenomenon still not fully understood.

على بعد حوالي 563 كم غرب بكين، وفي وسط بحر شاسع ناءٍ من الكثبان الرملية في صحراء كسيانغ شوان المنغولية، تزهر هناك زهرة اللوتس المعمارية: فندق ومنتجع اللوتس الصحراوي. يستضيف هذا المنتجع عروض وسهرات ألف ليلة وليلة ولكن بالأسلوب المنغولي وكذلك ركوب الجمال والتزلج على الرمال والانزلاق فوق كثبان رملية من علو 110 مترا وبزاوية 45 درجة. وتشتهر الكثبان الرملية هناك بظاهرة "رنين الرمال المكتوم" إذ أن تكوينها يجعلها "تغني" وذلك باصدارها هديراً ودويا عند اضطرابها، وهي ظاهرة طبيعية ليست مفهومة بالكامل.
