بدلاً من الرمال هذا شاطئٌ من بلورات الزجاج!

Before you get astonished, let me add that this is not totally the work of nature. How? Here is the story. This Glass Beach is located at Fort Bragg, California, USA. In the early 20th century the beach was a big garbage dump. In the sixties the landfill was closed, and various cleanup programs were undertaken through the years to correct the damage. Over the next several decades the pounding waves cleansed the beach, wearing down the discarded glass into the small, smooth, colored trinkets that cover the beach today. Since then, the place has become popular for tourists.

قبل ان تندهشوا، أود أن أضيف بأنه ليس بالكامل من صنع الطبيعة. كيف ذلك؟ إليكم القصة. يقع شاطئ بلورات الزجاج هذا في فورت براغ في كاليفورنيا بالولايات المتحدة. ففي أوائل القرن العشرين كان هذا الشاطئ مكباً كبيراً للنفايات. وفي الستينات تم إيقاف رمي النفايات. وخلال سنوات لاحقة أجريت برامج مختلفة لتنظيفه لتصحيح الضرر. وعلى مدى العقود القليلة التاليه نظفت الأمواج المتلاطمة الشاطئ تاركة قطع الزجاج المتبقي التي نحتها الموج ناعمة ملساء تغطي الشاطيء وكأنها بلورات حلي ملونة صغيرة. مما جعل الشاطئ فريداً وزاد شعبيته لدى السياح.
