In 1994, the U.S. Air Force's Wright Laboratory in Ohio drafted a bizarre three-page proposal regarding "behavioral disrupting chemicals." The goal was to create a "Gay Bomb" that makes enemy soldiers 'intensely sexually irresistible' to one another, rendering them incapable of combat.

Scientists proposed developing a bomb containing extremely strong female pheromones. The plan involved dropping these chemicals on enemy camps, leading to: * Stimulating intense sexual desire among (male) enemy soldiers. * Driving them to be sexually attracted to one another. * Creating a state of total chaos and "distraction," causing them to neglect their military duties.

Wright Laboratory requested $7.5 million in funding to develop this chemical weapon. But the idea wasn't taken very seriously at first, but it sparked widespread controversy when revealed by the "Sunshine Project" in 2004. The Pentagon tried to downplay the issue, noting it was just a "fleeting idea" and was never actually implemented

There is no scientific evidence for pheromones that can change human sexual orientation or control behavior with such speed and precision. Moreover, there is difficulty of ensuring the chemical reaches sufficient concentrations in open battlefields

ولا يوجد دليل علمي على وجود فيرومونات يمكنها تغيير التوجه الجنسي للبشر أو التحكم في سلوكهم بهذه السرعة والدقة. إضافة إلى صعوبة ضمان وصول المادة الكيميائية بتركيزات كافية في ميادين القتال المفتوحة.

The "Ig Nobel" Prize Due to the strangeness and absurdity of this proposal, Wright Laboratory won the Ig Nobel Peace Prize in 2007—a satirical award for research that "makes people laugh, then think."

جائزة "إيغ نوبل" (Ig Nobel) بسبب غرابة هذا المقترح وعبثيته، فازت مختبرات "رايت" بجائزة إيغ نوبل للسلام في عام 2007، وهي جائزة ساخرة تُمنح للأبحاث التي "تجعل الناس يضحكون ثم يفكرون".
