It is a Slug Moth caterpillar (Limacodidae), with its urticating hairs. Caterpillars are the larval form of certain insects like butterflies and moths. Many caterpillars are amazingly colored and may even have parts that mimic plant parts such as thorns. Their size varies from 1 mm to little more than 1 cm. Some caterpillar have cuddly hair, but be careful their hair could have venom. Approximately 12 families of moths or butterflies can inflict serious human injuries ranging from dermatitis and asthma to osteitis, coagulation, renal failure, and cerebral hemorrhage. Though there have been some fatalities, but skin rash is the most common.

إنها دودة (أو يسروع) يرقة فراشة العث (الاسم العلمي ليماكوديا). واليسروع هو طور اليرقة لبعض الحشرات مثل الفراشات والعث. العديد منها ذات ألوان مدهشة وأشكال مذهلة حتى أن بعضها له أجزاء قد تحاكي أجزاء النباتات مثل الأشواك. ويتراوح طولها مابين مليمتر واحد إلى أكثر قليلا من سنتمتر واحد. بعض اليرقات لها شعر جميل مغر للتحسيس واللمس ولكن كونوا حذرين فشعر بعض أنواعها بها سم. إذ هناك ما يقرب من 12 عائلة من العث و الفراشات قد تؤدي إلى اصابات بالغة للإنسان تتراوح ما بين التهابات جلدية وربو حتى التهاب العظم وتجلط الدم والفشل الكلوي ونزيف المخ. ورغم أنه كانت هناك بعض حالات وفاة، ولكن الطفح الجلدي هو الأكثر شيوعا.

Caterpillars are called "eating machines"; they eat leaves voraciously to grow very quickly; for instance, a tobacco hornworm will increase its weight ten-thousand folds in less than twenty days. Most species shed their skin four or five times as their bodies grow, and they eventually pupate into an adult form.

وتسمى اليرقات 'الآلات الآكلة'. إذ أنها تأكل أوراق النباتات بنهم شديد، لكي تنمو بسرعة كبيرة، فعلى سبيل المثال يزداد وزن دودة التبغ عشرة آلاف مرة خلال أقل من عشرين يوما. ومعظم أنواعها تغيير جلودها أربع أو خمس مرات مع نمو أجسادها، وفي نهاية المطاف تتحول إلى خادرة وهو مرحلة من من مراحل النمو.
