The Earth's eye closely resembles a human eye macro.

عين الكرة الأرضية تشبه بشكل ملفت شكل العين البشرية المكبرة.

Astronauts have noticed, since the beginning of space missions, that Earth has an eye as well that strikingly resembles a human eye. The eye is located in the featureless Sahara Desert of Mauritania. Some people call it the "Eye of Africa."

لاحظ رواد الفضاء، منذ بداية البعثات الفضائية، أن الكرة الأرضية لها عين، حتى أنها تشبه بشكل ملفت شكل العين البشرية. وتقع هذه العين في الصحراء العديمة الملامح في موريتانيا. بعض الناس يسمونها "عين أفريقيا".

NASA explained that the 50 km across eye structure is easily visible from space. Once thought to be an impact crater, its flat middle and lack of shock-altered rock indicates otherwise. The possibility that the structure was formed by a volcanic eruption also seems improbable because of the lack of a dome of igneous or volcanic rock. Rather, the layered sedimentary rock of the eye structure is now thought by many to have been caused by uplifted rock sculpted by erosion.

وقد بينت وكالة ناسا أن تكوين العين ذات القطر الذي يقارب خمسين كيلومترا يرى بسهولة من الفضاء. وأنهم اعتقدوا في البداية أنها حفرة ناتجة عن سقوط نيزك، ولكن وسطها المسطح وافتقارها إلى تعديلات الصخور نتيجة الصدمة كلها تشير إلى خلاف ذلك. ويبدو أيضاً أن احتمال تكونها نتيجة ثوران بركاني غير وارد أيضاً بسبب عدم وجود قبة صخرية نارية أو بركانية. ويعتقد الآن أن الصخور الرسوبية الطبقية لتكوين العين نجمت عن صخور انتحت بالتآكل وارتفعت.
