Spirits Rise from Mudأرواح تخرج من الوحل

Mudmen as if they are spirits rising from the mudd at the banks of Asaro river.

رجال الطين كما لو أنهم أرواح بعثت من الوحل على ضفاف نهر آسارو.

Legend has it that an enemy tribe invaded the Asaro villagers and forced them to flee into the Asaro River. The defeated villagers waited until dusk before attempting to escape. The enemy saw them rise from the muddy banks covered in mud and thought they were spirits. So the enemy eyes fled in fear. The villagers then went into the village to see what had happened, not knowing the invaders were still there. The enemy were so terrified they ran away leaving the village.

تقول الأسطورة أن قبيلة العدو غزت قرويي أسارو وأجبرتهم على الفرار نحو نهر أسارو. انتظر القرويون المهزومون حتى الغسق قبل محاولتهم الهرب. فرآهم مراقبو العدو يصعدون من الشواطيء الموحلة التي غطتهم بالكامل بالوحل فاعتقدوا أنهم أرواح تخرج من الطين. وهكذا فر مراقبو العدو من الخوف. بعدها ذهب القرويون إلى القرية لاستطلاع ما حدث، وهم لا يعرفون أن الغزاة لا يزالون هناك. ولكن أفراد العدو كانوا مرعوبين للغاية فهربوا مغادرين القرية.

These days mudmen make shows and dances for tourists. Asaro river is located in the Eastern Highlands province, Papua New Guinea, east of Indonesia.

وفي هذه الأيام يقوم رجال الطين بتقديم العروض والرقصات للسياح. ويقع نهر آسارو في مقاطعة المرتفعات الشرقية في جزيرة بابوا غينيا الجديدة في شرق إندونيسيا.
