Do animals Joke with each other? Or, only humans have the sense of humor?

هل تمزج الحيوانات مع بعضها؟ أم أن البشر هم الوحيدون الذين يتمتعون بروح الدعابة؟

The short answer, actually depends on how you define humor.	الإجابة باختصار، تعتمد في الواقع على كيفية تعريفك للفكاهة.
Humans laugh when tickled, if that is considered humor, then various animals do indeed have "humor".	البشر يضحكون عند دغدغتهم، فإذا اعتبرت ذلك نوعا من الدعابة، فإن هناك حيوانات مختلفة لديها بالفعل 'روح الدعابة'.

But, if you consider that humor arises when there's an inconsistency between what one expects and what actually happens, then, in that sense, the vast majority of animals probably don't have a sense of humor, as they lack the cognitive mechanisms and networks that would allow them to identify such inconsistencies.

أما إذا اعتبرت أن الفكاهة تنشأ عندما يكون هناك تناقض بين ما يتوقعه المرء وما يحدث بالفعل، إذن وبهذا المعنى فإن الغالبية العظمى من الحيوانات ربما لا تتمتع بحس الدعابة، لأنها تفتقر إلى الآليات والشبكات المعرفية التي من شأنها أن تسمح لهم بتحديد مثل هذه التناقضات.

قال أبو الطيب المتنبي شعراً: إذا رأيت نيوب الليث بارزة    فلا تظُنن أن الليث يبتسمُ.

أما أن يقع أحدهم على ظهره غشية من الضحك، فهذا أمر غريب!

What are they laughing at?   على ما يضحكان؟

Laughing pair of frogs   زوج من الضفادع يضحكان

Laughing pair of dogs   كلبان يضحكان
