It's not carved from stone but from thousands of layered paper sheets!!!

ليس منحوتاً من الحجر ولكنه من آلاف الصفحات الورقية المرصوصة فوق بعضها!!!

With a tug of the sculpture, the head stretches and distorts to reveal an accordion of paper layers. When returned to its resting state the sculpture resumes its shape.

عند تحريك أعلى المجسم يتمتد الرأس ويتشوه ليكشف عن أكورديون من طبقات ورقية. وعندما يعاد إلى حالته الأصلية يعود شكله كما كان.

This fascinating work is by Beijing artist Li Hongbo, who became fascinated by traditional Chinese toys and festive decorations known as paper gourds made from glued layers of thin paper which can be stored flat but then opened to reveal a flower or other shape.

هذا العمل المذهل هو للفنان الصيني لي هونغبو من بكين، الذي أفتتن بألعاب الأطفال الصينية التقليدية وبالزينات الاحتفالية المعروفة باسم القرع الورقي المصنوعة من طبقات رقيقة ورقية ملصقة ببعضها ويمكن تخزينها بشكل مسطح ولكن عند فتحتها تتحول إلى زهرة أو شكل آخر.

Li Hongbo applies the paper gourd techniques to create big sculptures that are both sturdy and flexible like slinkies. He first stacks paper sheets attaching each with glue at specific points to create a honeycomb pattern until he they become a block. Then, he uses his set of carving tools to create the sculpture. A life size statue could take 20,000 sheets. Li Hongbo has exhibited his sculptures in various museums around the world. His sculptures sell at prices ranging from $10,000 to $48,000 per piece.

ويقوم لي هونغبو بتطبيق تقنية القرع الورقي لخلق مجسمات كبيرة متينة ومرنة في نفس الوقت مثل الثعابين. إذ يقوم أولاً برص الورق ورقة ورقة مع وضع الغراء في نقاط محددة لخلق ما يشبه قرص العسل حتى تصبح كتلة. ثم يقوم باستخدام مجموعة من أدوات النحت ليشكل المجسم. ويحتاج التمثال بالحجم الطبيعي حوالي 20 ألف صفحة ورقة. وقد عرض لي هونغبو منحوتاته في متاحف مختلفة حول العالم. وبيعت منحوتاته بأسعار تتراوح بين 10 آلاف دولار إلى 48 ألف دولار للقطعة الواحدة.
