هل يمكن لقرون الفلفل الحار الأحمر الزحف؟ نعم، إذا كانت من الرخويات!

Meet the crawling red chili pods, the pink slug (Triboniophorus aff. Graeffei), a new species of 20 cm long slug that's found high in the mists of Mount Kaputar, near Narrabri in north-western Australia. It is believed that this slug has weird mating rituals like its cousin the yellow banana slug, that could end in eating the penis of one of the hermaphrodites mating slugs!

تعرفوا على قرون الفلفل الأحمر الزاحف، الرخوية الوردية (البزاقة العارية الحمراء)، وهو نوع جديد من الرخويات بطول 20 سم وجدت في ضباب أعالي جبل كابوتار، بالقرب من نارابي في شمال غرب أوستراليا. ويعتقد أن هذه الرخويات لها طقوس تزاوج غريبة مثل ابن عمها رخوية الموز الصفراء والتي يمكن أن تنتهي بقضم قضيب أحدى الرخويات المتزاوجة الخنثى (ذكر وأنثى بنفس الوقت)!

رخوية الموز: علق القضيب؟ لا مشكلة، اقضميه!

First of all, banana slugs have enormous penises, when erect they are almost the length of the slug itself 15-20 cm. It emerges from a genital pore on the head of the slug. Banana slugs are hermaphrodites, so two slugs will try to fertilize each other. To mate properly, a slug must choose a mate roughly its own size - if it miscalculates, its penis will get stuck during copulation, and the other slug will actually bite off the stuck penis (scientifically called apophallation) and is known among terrestrial slugs.

بادئ ذي بدء، رخويات الموز لها قضيب هائل، إذ يكون عند انتصابه بطول الرخوية نفسها تقريبًا 15-20 سم. ويظهر من فتحة الأعضاء التناسلية الموجودة على رأس الرخوية. رخويات الموز هي خنثى، لذلك عند التزاوج تحاول رخويتان تلقيح بعضهما البعض. فلكي تتزاوجان بشكل صحيح، يجب أن تختار الرخوية رخوية أخرى من حجمها تقريبًا - فإذا أخطأت في التقدير، فسيعلق قضيبها أثناء الجماع مما يضطر الرخوية الأخرى إلى عض القضيب العالق لقطعه، (يُطلق عليه علميا فصل القضيب) ويعرف بين الرخويات الأرضية.
