Few days ago I received an amazing video on starlings murmuration. I then remembered a short article I prepared few year ago about this amazing phenomenon. No words or even photos can illustrate this unbelievable shows without watching the video at the end of this article.

منذ عدة أيام وصلني فيديو مدهش عن حفيف الزرازير الراقص. فتذكرت أنني كنت قد حضرت مقالة قصيرة منذ أعوام عن هذه الظاهرة المدهشة. ولا يمكن للكلمات ولا حتى الصور أن توضح لكم هذه العروض الخرافية دون مشاهدة الفيديو في آخر المقال.

It happens every year during autumn, before dusk over the sky in Scotland and in other countries in the same temperate region, when a huge flock of migratory starling birds perform magical dancing shows and shape-shifting flight patterns.

تحدث هذه الظاهرة كل عام خلال فصل الخريف قبيل الغسق في سماء اسكتلندا وفي بلدان أخرى في نفس المنطقة المعتدلة، عندما تقوم أسرابٌ كبيرة جداً من طيور الزرزور المهاجرة بعروض راقصة ساحرة وتشكيلات طيرانية معقدة ومتغيرة باستمرار.

The breathtaking phenomenon is called starling murmurations. Starlings are small-sized passerine birds, that have reaction time under 100 milliseconds to avoid aerial collisions—and predators—in the giant flock. The birds tend to flock together for protection and can reach speeds of up to 32 km/h.

وتسمى هذه الظاهرة الخلابة حفيف الزرازير. والزرزور هو طائر من الجواثم الصغيرة، سريع التجاوب، فردة فعله تقل عن 100 ميلي ثانية حتى يتجنب التصادم في الجو ويتفادى الطيور المفترسة وهو في أسرابه العملاقة. وتميل هذه الطيور إلى التجمع في أسراب لحماية بعضها وتصل سرعاتها في الطيران إلى 32 كلم / ساعة.
