Every year, Hindus greet the turn of winter into spring with a splash of color. They call their celebration the festival of Holi, and Hindus across India and throughout the world share prayer, camaraderie, special food, and they douse each other in dyes and colored water.

في كل عام يحي الهندوس انتهاء فصل الشتاء وبداية فصل الربيع بدفقات من الألوان. وهم يسمون احتفالهم مهرجان هولي حيث يقوم الهندوس في الهند وفي جميع أنحاء العالم بالصلاة والصداقة الحميمة والأطعمة الخاصة ورش بعضهم بعضاً بالأصباغ والمياه الملونة.

The festival has roots to many Hindu legends associated with the triumph of good over evil. One of the stories tells the tale of the demoness Holika who was consumed in flames. This story is replayed each year with bonfires and effigies, before the celebrants break out the hues and cries of the festival.

ولهذا المهرجان جذور عديدة في الاساطير الهندوسية المرتبطة بانتصار الخير على الشر. إحدى هذه القصص تروي ان هوليكا الشيطانة احترقت بالنيران. ويتعاد رواية هذه القصة كل عام بدمى وألعاب نارية قبل أن يندفع المحتفلين بالألوان والصرخات في المهرجان.
