Lakshmi Tatma, was born in 2005 with an astonishing 8 limbs in a poverty-stricken region of Bihar, India. Interestingly, she was born on the day devoted to the celebration of the four-armed Hindu goddess Vishnu. The girl is believed by some to be the reincarnation of the multi-limbed Hindu goddess Vishnu. In June 2007 a team of 30 Indian surgeons performed a 40-hour surgery on the girl to remove half of her limbs so that she may have a normal life.
Lakshmi is one of the estimated 200,000 babies born each year with this rare condition. A parasitic twin occurs when a twin embryo begins to develop in the mother but fails to separate. This results in a semi-formed twin that is joined to the body of the developed twin.

ولدت لاكشمي تامتا عام 2005 ولها ثمانية أطراف عجيبة في ولاية بيهار الهندية المبتلاة بالفقر. ومن المثير للاهتمام، أنها ولدت في يوم الاحتفال بالإلهة الهندوسية فيشنو ذات الأطراف المتعددة. مما جعل القرويين يعتقدون بأن هذه الفتاة هي تناسخ للإلهة فيشنو. في يونيو 2007 قام فريق من 30 جراحاً هندياً بعملية جراحية استمرت 40 ساعة لإزالة اطرافها الزائدة ليعيدوا لها الحياة الطبيعية.
لاكشمي هي واحدة من مائتي ألف طفل يولدون كل عام بمثل هذه الحالة النادرة. حيث يتكون توأم طفيلي عندما تحمل الأم بتوأم ولكن أحد التوائم يفشل في الإنفصال وينتج عن ذلك جنين نصف مكتمل ملتحم مع التوأم المكتمل.

The operation was successful and the girl is now goes to school as normal as other kids.

ونجحت عملية الفتاة وهي الآن تذهب إلى المدرسة وتعيش حياة كبقية الأطفال.
