India is rich in her cultural heritage and ethnic variations. At the annual Maramadi festival during the post harvest season in the villages of Kerala in southern India, a peculiar bull race takes place. A pair of bulls are sent charging down the football field-sized rice paddy field soaked in ankle deep water, while their professional Jockey guides hang onto a harness and slide through the mud. The villagers gather around with excitement fervor as there is stiff competition over these races. | الهند بلاد غنية بتراثها الثقافي واختلافاتها العرقية. ففي مهرجان مارامادي السنوي خلال موسم ما بعد الحصاد في قرى ولاية كيرالا في جنوب الهند، يقام سباق غريب للثيران. إذ يتم إطلاق زوج من الثيران عبر حقل أرز بحجم ملعب كرة القدم غارق بالمياه العميقة حتى الكاحل، في حين يقوم رجال متمرسون بقيادة ثورين من خلفهما متزلجين ومنزلقين فوق المياه الطينية. ويجتمع القرويون بحماس لمشاهدة الإثارة فهناك منافسة شديدة في هذه السباقات. |
