This did not prevent Chinese beach-goers from enjoying swimming in green waters. Qingdao's beaches, China, suffered from severe green algae invasion phenomena that happened three times in five years, in 2007, 2008 and 2010. The latest invasion covered 410 square meters of the yellow sea.

هذا لم يمنع مرتادي الشواطئ الصينيين من الإستمتاع بالسباحة في المياه الخضراء. فقد عانت شواطئ تشينغداو في الصين، من ظاهرة غزو الطحالب الخضراء ثلاث مرات في خمس سنوات، في عام 2007، 2008 و 2010. وقد غطى أحدث غزو مساحة 410 متر مربع من البحر الاصفر.

Though not toxic, algae ravages the ecosystem by consuming large quantities of oxygen, thus suffocating other marine life. The invasion cost millions of dollars in damage. In 2008, it threatened the Olympic sailing events that were held in Qingdao's waters.

ومع أن الطحالب غير سامة، إلا أنها تؤذي النظام البيئي وذلك باستهلاكها كميات كبيرة من الأكسجين، وبالتالي تخنق الحياة البحرية الأخرى. وتسبب خسارات وأضرار بملايين الدولارات. وكادت في عام 2008 إن تهدد سباقات الزوارق الشراعية الاولمبية التي جرت في مياه تشينغداو.
