How could a river surrounded by trees run deep under the sea?

This baffling photo was forwarded to me with a caption that says "A River Deep Under The Sea, Blessed Almighty God". Where could that river be and how it has grown trees and fresh water flora submerged surrounding its two shores?

أُُرسلتْ لي هذه الصورة المحيرة حاملة التعليق "نهر في أعماق البحار - جلت عظمة الله". فأين يمكن أن يكون هذا النهر وكيف نمت الأشجار ونباتات المياه العذبة المحيطة بشاطئيه غارقة في مياه البحر المالح؟

The fallen trees and leaves on both "shores", make the seascape look all the more surreal.

Let us dig out the facts. First it is called Cenote Angelita (Spanish for Little Angel) and located in the Yucatan Peninsula in Mexico about 10 to 15 minute drive south of Tulum. The second fact is it is not in under deep seas but in a nearby region to the sea, so some articles called it "Hidden Underwater River Flows Along Mexico's Ocean Floor", a decieving name. The third truth is that Cenote Angelita, which looks like an ordinary natural rain water pool, actually consists of deep sinkholes formed from the collapse of the limestone bedrock and filled with fresh rain water. Overtime it formed an underwater river when the fresh top water met the exposed salty groundwater. The different density levels in the two waters causes them to layer. The result is a breathtaking convergence of two habitats almost 30 meters below. This beauty was uncovered by Anatoly Beloshchin, a photographer with a passion for diving. He traveled to the Yucatan in Mexico for a dive photo shoot. Since then the site became a divers attraction.

دعونا الآن نستخرج الحقائق. أولاً هذا المكان يسمى فجوة أنجيليتا الصخرية (ويطلق عليه باللغة الإسبانية الملاك الصغير) ويقع في شبه جزيرة يوكاتان في المكسيك على بعد حوالي 10 إلى 15 دقيقة بالسيارة جنوب بلدة تولوم. والحقيقة الثانية هي أنه ليس في أعماق البحار ولكنه في منطقة قريبة من البحر، لذلك فقد أطلقت عليه بعض المقالات "أنهار خفية تتدفق تحت الماء على طول قاع المحيط في المكسيك" وهي تسمية خادعة. والحقيقة الثالثة هي أن فجوة انجيليتا الصخرية والتي تبدو من الأعلى وكأنها بركة عادية في الطبيعة من مياه الأمطار، تتكون في الواقع من مجاري عميقة تشكلت في الأسفل من انهيار صخر الحجر الجيري وامتلأت بمياه الأمطار العذبة. ومع مرور الزمن، شكلت نهرًا سفلياً تحت الماء عندما التقى سطح الماء العذب بالمياه الجوفية المالحة المكشوفة. وقد ادى اختلاف كثافة المائين إلى جعلهما طبقتين. والنتيجة كانت وجود تقارب مذهل بين موئلين للحياة على عمق 30 مترًا تقريبًا. وقد قام بالكشف عن هذا الجمال المصور الفتوغرافي أناتولي بيلوشكين والشغوف بالغوص. حيث سافر إلى يوكاتان في المكسيك لالتقاط صور غوصه هناك. ومنذ ذلك الحين أصبح المكان وجهة يقصدها الغواصون.
