They are terrestrial herbs which grow in colonies of genetically identical plants. The flowers of wasp orchids are pollinated by sexual deception. Male wasps are attracted by wind-borne pheromones released by glands on the sepals of the flowers. Wasp males attempt to lift and fly away with the dummy female but this action attach the pollinia carried by the male wasp to the sticky stigma. | يتم تلقيح زهور أوركيد الدبور عن طريق الخداع الجنسي. إذ تنجذب ذكور الدبابير إلى الفيرومونات التي تحملها الرياح والتي تطلقها غدد على كأسية الزهور. ويحاول ذكر الدبور رفع أنثاه الوهمية ليطير بها لكن هذا الإجراء يؤدي إلى تلقيح الميسم الدبق بغبار الطلع الذي يحمله الدبور الذكر. |
