Have You Heard of Algeria's Circular Pyramids?هل سمعتم عن أهرامات الجزائر الدائرية؟

Surprised? You thought pyramids are only in Egypt and have the polyhedron shape?

هل تفاجأتم؟ كنتم تظنون أن الأهرامات حكر فقط على مصر وأنها بالشكل الهرمي الثلاثي؟

You are wrong! Sudan has many pyramids as well of the same shape as in Egypt. But, most amazingly is that Algeria has over 100 pyramids scattered across Algeria in Tibaza and Batna areas. They are circular or conical pyramids, most date back to periods before Christ. These are mausoleums of the kings of Numidia the ancient Berbar kingdom (200 BC – 46 BC) in present-day Algeria, north Africa.

انتم مخطئون! فالسودان فيه العديد من الأهرامات، الشبيهة بأهرمات الجيزة في مصر. ولكن، الأكثر دهشة هو أن الجزائر فيها أكثر من 100 هرم منتشرة في أنحاء الجزائر في مناطق تيبازة وباتنة. وهي أهرامات دائرية مخروطية الشكل، أكثرها يعود إلى فترات ما قبل المسيح. وهي أضرحة ملوك مملكة نوميديا البربرية القديمة (200 ق م – 46 ق م) والموجودة فيما يعرف حلياً بالجزائر في شمال أفريقيا.

Royal Mausoleum of Mauretania   الضريح الملكي الموريتاني

Two of these pyramids are most famous, the first is the Royal Mausoleum of Mauretania which is located near Tibaza, north of Algeria, and is recognized by UNESCO as a World Heritage Site. The second is Imedghasen near Batna city. The French occupation army took, in 1854, a lot of artifacts from the tombs to be exhibited in the museums of Paris.

اثنان من هذه الأهرامات هما الأكثر شهرة، الأول هو الضريح الملكي الموريتاني التي يقع بالقرب من تيبازة شمال الجزائر، وهو مصنفٌ من قبل اليونسكو كأحد مواقع التراث العالمي. و الثاني ضريح إمدغاسن بالقرب من مدينة باتنة. وقد استولى جيش الاحتلال الفرنسي، في عام 1854، على الكثير من القطع الأثرية من هذه المقابر ليتم عرضها في متاحف في باريس.
