Searching the net proved to me wrong. There are many types of glassy sea creatures around the world. This specific one is only one type! It is a juvenile Blue Tang Surgeonfish found in a wide range of waters including those around New Zealand. They are born this way to help avoid predators. As they age, they slowly take on a mostly blue hue. Strange enough, I found that there is one type of fish called Indian Glassy Fish (Chanda Ranga), or Indian glassy perch or Indian X-ray fish. This type is a freshwater fish sought by aquarium hobbyists. Not only that, many traded glassfish are painted by injecting colored dye into the fish's transparent tissue to make them more attractive to hobbyists.
