I thought this color is reserved for parrots!

كنت أعتقد أن هذا اللون حكر على الببغاوات!

Apparently, not only certain parrots have emerald green feathers. The emerald dove has green feathered wings. Because emerald doves are very secretive and shy, they are rarely seen though they are common in Southern India, Myanmar, Thailand, Malaysia, the Philippines, Indonesia, and northern and eastern Australia. They feed on fallen fruit and seeds and also eat titbits like termites. Males have white patches on the edge of their shoulders and grey crowns. Females will tend to have a browner complexion with a grey mark on the shoulder. (Source)

ولكن يبدو أن الريش الأخضر الزمردي ليس حكراً على بعض الببغاوات فقط. فالحمام الزمردي له أجنحة ريشها أخضر. ولأن الحمام الزمردي خجول ويحب الإختباء وخجول فإنه نادرا ما نراها رغم شيوعها في جنوب الهند وميانمار وتايلاند وماليزيا والفلبين واندونيسيا وشمال وشرق استراليا. وهي تتغذى على الفواكه والبذور الساقطة وتتناول أيضاً الفتات مثل النمل الأبيض. ذكورها لها بقع بيضاء على حافة أكتافها وتيجان رمادية. أما والإناث فتميل ألوانها إلى البني أكثر مع علامة رمادية على أكتافها.
