Adam's Footprint in Sri Lankaطبعة موطئ قدم آدم في سيريلانكا

ِAt the summit of this mountain, some believe that Adam descended from Eden.

على قمة هذا الجبل يعتقد البعض أن آدم عليه السلام نزل من الجنة.

Sri Pada (also Adam's peak), is a 2,243 meters tall conical mountain located in central Sri Lanka. It is well known for the Sri Pada "Sacred Footprint", a 1.8 meters rock formation near the summit. For Buddhists, the footprint mark is the left foot of the Buddha, when he visited Sri Lanka, as a symbol for worship at the invitation of Buddhist God Saman. Tamil Hindus consider it as the footprint of Lord Shiva. Some Muslims and Christians in Sri Lanka ascribe it to where Adam, the first Ancestor, set foot as he was exiled from the Garden of Eden.

سري بادا (ويسمى أيضا جبل آدم)، هو جبل مخروطي الشكل عالي ويبلغ ارتفاعه 2,243 متراً ويقع في وسط جزيرة سريلانكا. وجبل سري بادا أي "طبعة القدم المقدسة" مشهورٌ بتشيكلة صخرية بطول 1.8 مترا قرب القمة. يؤمن البوذيين بأن عليه طبعة موطيء القدم اليسرى لبوذا عندما زار سري لانكا، كرمز لعبادة الإله البوذي سامان. أما التاميل الهندوس فيعتبرونها بصمة قدم الإله شيفا. أما بعض المسلمين والمسيحيين في سري لانكا فينسبونها إلى آدم عليه السلام، أبو البشرية، حين وطئت قدمه الأرض عند خروجه من الجنة.

يعتقد البوذيون أن طبعة القدم هي لبوذا.

For at least 1000 years, annually thousands of pilgrims climb the mountain from December to May. During other months it is hard to climb the mountain due to very heavy rain, extreme wind, and thick mist. Nowadays pilgrims ascend the mountain is on stone stairs. But in the old days it used to be climbing on chains and rocks. In recorded history, a good number of ancient Sri Lankan kings have visited the mountain from time to time.

منذ ما لا يقل عن 1000 سنة والآلاف الزوار يتسلقون الجبل سنويا ما بين شهر ديسمبر (كانون الأول) وحتى شهر مايو (أيار). إذ أن التسلق خلال الأشهر الأخرى صعب بسبب هطول الامطار الغزيرة جدا، والرياح العاتية، والضباب الكثيف. في هذه الأيام يقوم الزائرون بالصعود إلى القمة بستخدام الدرجات الحجرية. ولكنهم في الماضي كانوا يتسلقون باستخدام السلاسل والصخور. ووفقاً للتاريخ المدون، فقد زار الجبل عدد كبير من الملوك القدماء السريلانكيين ما بين حين وآخر.
