Alpacas are a domesticated species of South American camelid, bearing a striking resemblance to llamas only much smaller. They have been bred specifically for their 'fiber' which is used for knitted and woven wool garments. Alpacas are grazed in herds at the heights of the Andes in southern Peru, northern Bolivia, Ecuador, and northern Chile.

الألبكة هو نوع من الأنواع المدجنة من عائلة الجمال تعيش في أمريكا الجنوبية، وتشبه كثيراً حيوانات اللاما ولكنها أصغر منها بكثير. وتربى خصيصا لصوفها الذي يستخدم في الحياكة وفي الملابس المنسوجة من الصوف. ويتم رعي قطعان الألبكة في مرتفعات جبال الأنديز في جنوب البيرو وشمال بوليفيا والإكوادور وشمال الشيلي.

Orbital debris is any man-made object in orbit about the Earth. There are almost 300 millions of them orbiting earth including derelict spacecraft and upper stages of launch vehicles, debris intentionally released, debris resulting from explosions or collisions, solid rocket motor effluents, and tiny flecks of paint released by thermal stress or small particle impacts. In addition to potential threat to orbiting satellites and space stations, debris may fall and hit earth. During the past 40 years an average of one piece of debris fell back to Earth each day. Falling debris speed can reach 1,600 km per hour. Though most falling pieces are expected to burn up as they streak through the atmosphere, some could reach earth and cause damage.

الحطام المداري هو أي جسم من صنع الإنسان يدور في مدار حول الأرض. وهناك حوالي 300 مليون منها بما في ذلك المركبات الفضائية المهجورة والمراحل العليا من محركات الاطلاق والنفايات المرمية عمدا والحطام الذي ينتج عن انفجار أو اصطدام المركبات الفضائية والنفايات السائلة للمحركات الصاروخية والبقع الصغيرة من الطلاء الناتجة عن الإجهاد الحراري أو اصطدامات الجسيمات الصغيرة. إضافة إلى ما تشكله هذه الجسميات المدارية من خطر محتمل على الأقمار الصناعية والمحطات الفضائية فإنها قد تسقط وتضرب الأرض. خلال السنوات الـ 40 الماضية كان معدل سقوط الحطام إلى الأرض هو قطعة واحدة في كل يوم. وسرعة مرورها في الغلاف الجوي للأرض قد يصل إلى 1,600 كم في الساعة. ورغم أنه من المتوقع احتراق معظم القطع الساقطة عبر الغلاف الجوي إلا أن بعضها قد يصل إلى الأرض مسبباً أضرارا.

Mina, The City of Tentsمِنى، مدينة الخيام

More than 100,000 air-conditioned tents for just few days stay per year.

أكثر من 100 ألف خيمة مكيفة الهواء للإقامة أيام معدودات في العام.

Mina is a small town lying in a low valley, 8km east of the Holy city Makkah, in western Saudi Arabia. Inside the 20 square km valley, tents cover every open space, as far as eyes can see, neatly arranged, row after row. It is in these tents Hajj pilgrims (hajjis) stay for few days each Hajj season. For the rest of the year, Mina remains pretty much deserted. There are more than 100,000 air-conditioned tents to provide temporary accommodation to 3 million pilgrims. Tents measure 8m x 8m and are made of Teflon-coated fiberglass to ensure high resistance to fire. The tents are segregated into camps, each has its own exterior wall, and is connected to other camps by pathways. Each camp is equipped with a kitchen, bathrooms, and ablution facilities. Every tent is numbered and color-coded by country, and all the hajjis are supposed to have badges with their tent color and number, in case they get lost.

مِنى هي بلدة صغيرة تقع في بطن وادٍ منخفض يبعد 8 كم شرق مدينة مكة المكرمة في غرب المملكة العربية السعودية. وفي بطن هذا الوادي الذي تبلغ مساحته 20 كيلومتراً مربعاً وعلى مد البصر تغطي الخيام كل مساحة فيه. وقد رتبت بعناية صفاً صفاً. وفي هذه الخيام يبيت الحجاج لأيام معدودات من كل موسم حج. أما بقية العام فتكون مِنى مهجورة تقريباً. هناك أكثر من 100 ألف خيمة مكيفة توفر إقامة مؤقتة لحوالي 3 ملايين حاج. ومساحة كل خيمة 8 أمتار × 8 امتار ومصنوعة من الألياف الزجاجية المغلفة بالتفلون لضمان مقاومة عالية للحرائق. وتنقسم الخيام إلى عدة مخيمات، كل منها له جدار خارجي خاص، وترتبط المخيمات ببعضها عبر ممرات. تم تجهيز كل مخيم بمطبخ وحمامات ومرافق للوضوء. وتم ترميز كل خيمة بلون ورقم حسب البلدان، ويفترض أن يضع جميع الحجاج إشارات بنفس لون ورقم الخيام، تفيد في حال ضياعهم.
