If that is not true then how many embryos a woman's womb can carry?

إذا لم تكن تلك حقيقة فكم عدد الأجنة التي يمكن أن يحملها رحم المرأة؟

This story is not new. In November 2011, the 21^st Century Hospital in Surat, India, claimed to have a supermom that gave birth to eleven babies. Calls were made to the Guinness Book of Records to officially acknowledge the world's first undecaplets (11 babies). Some skeptics claim that six babies were indeed sextuples. But the remaining five babies are born on the same day from other mothers.

هذا الخبر ليس حديثاً. ففي نوفمبر 2011 ادعت مستشفى القرن 21 في سورات في الهند، أن أماً خارقة ولدت أحد عشر طفلاً دفعة واحدة. وقد قاموا بدعوة كتاب غينيس للارقام القياسية للاعتراف رسميا بولادة أول أحد عشر توأماً في العالم. ولكن بعض المشككين أشاروا إلى أن ستة من الأطفال كانوا ستة توائم فعلياً. ولكن الأطفال الخمسة الآخرون كانوا من أمهات أخريات ولدن في نفس اليوم.

إن ستة توائم دفعة واحدة أمر لم يعد نادراً هذه الأيام.

How many embryos can a womb carry?

Though some claimed that 15 and 12 embryos have happened, but documented records indicate that the highest number of babies born to one mother at one time is nine (Nonuplets). In 1971, an Australian woman gave birth to 9 babies. None of them lived more than six days. Then, in 1999, a woman in Malaysia also birthed 9 babies, but all died within 6 hours of birth.

Human multiple births can occur naturally when woman ovulates multiple eggs or fertilized egg splits into two. For unknown reasons, older women are more likely to have multiple births naturally.

The number of multiple births has increased by 35% over the last decade due to fertility drugs and treatments such as In Vitro Fertilization (IVF). This is the procedure which "implants" more than one fertile egg in a woman's womb, in hopes that at least one will be accepted by the body.

كم عدد الأجنة التي يمكن للرحم أن يحملها؟

على الرغم من أن البعض ادعوا 15 و 12 جنيناً، إلا أن السجلات الموثقة تشير إلى أن أكبر عدد من الأطفال ولدوا من أم واحدة في وقت واحد هو تسعة (9 توائم). ففي عام 1971 ولدت امرأة استرالية 9 توائم. لم يعش أحد منهم أكثر من ستة أيام. وفي عام 1999 ولدت امرأة ماليزية أيضا 9 توائم، ولكنهم كلهم لقوا حتفهم في غضون 6 ساعات من الولادة.

ولادة التوائم يمكن أن تحدث عند الإنسان بشكل طبيعي عندما تنتج المرأة عدة بويضات في الرحم أو عند انقسام البويضة المخصبة إلى قسمين. ولأسباب غير معروفة، فإن النساء الأكبر سناً أكثر احتمالاً لولادة التوائم بشكل طبيعي.

وقد ازداد عدد ولادات التوائم بنسبة 35٪ خلال العقد الماضي بسبب أدوية الخصوبة والعلاجات مثل الإخصاب في المختبر (أي في إف). وهو إجراء يتم فيه زرع أكثر من بويضة مخصبة في رحم المرأة على أمل أن يتقبل الجسم واحدة منها على الأقل.
